Galway

Friday night we began our journey to Galway, which consisted of a 2.5 hour train ride, unfortunately it was dark so I couldn't see much but i'm sure it was beautiful.

That night we just hung out because we had been walking around all day with all of our belongings, and i needed to shower to get the bird crap out of my hair! Even that was a close call because Bri's shower was having some difficulties but luckily we got it working.
Saturday we headed to the market in Galway which was mostly food, and amazing...yes, i know it seems unusual and is hard to believe, but we ate! I had these amazing doughnuts with cinnamon sugar, tried a bite of Bri's sausage, got a crepe with some apple/pear/cinnamon sugar filling, and i bought myself a TON of olives--ever since coming here I've started loving olives for some reason, so I got a mix of olives stuffed with garlic, olives with garlic and parsley and olives with garlic and chili, which I saved for my bus from Galway to Shannon airport, but i'm not so sure the other bus passengers appreciated the garlic aroma.
After the market we walked through the town of Galway where I found proof that, it's true, I'm irish! And apparently from Galway... We then decided that we'd all go back and cook dinner, which turned out to be mexican themed, which I found ironic in Ireland, all while we listened to country music...great combo

That night we went to a few typical Irish pubs where we got to see these old irish men playing on their banjo's, pretty cool.
Sunday we went to church, then went to "Couch Potatoes" for some authentic Irish potatoes...delicious!
Afterwards we walked down by the Salt Hill promenade and got to see where the original claddagh was made, claddagh village which was probably my favorite part of the weekend. It was right on the water and you could see the rolling green hills and multicolor buildings of claddagh village. After walking around the area it was time to head to the bus station to take a bus to the airport! All in all it was a great weekend!

Some gorgeous pics....you keep making me so jealous. I will probably dream about those stuffed olives tonight! Are you sure you are going to want to come home? It's boring here..but, of course, your lovely family is here waiting for you to come back. We miss you, but are glad that you are having the time of your life!

HeyNic
Gramps says that when you get home, we're going to pick your brain. You obviously have done more in this short time than we've done all our lives.
Also, on Xmas eve, you can pig out on olives over here as we always load up at the olive bars.
Nice to know there's something I know you'll like to eat.
{Sorry, no cinnamon buns or croissants}
Have fun with Mom, Dad and Julie!
xoxo
